What's the difference between you and an AI?

Being able to identify motorcycles in a photo collage doesn't make you smarter than an AI. What separates you from a LLM supercomputer is your personality, and the Core Values Index™ is here to show you how.

What would happen if an AI took the world's most accurate psychometric assessment, the Core Values Index?

The world's most accurate and reliable psychometric assessment, the Core Values Index, is perhaps one of the best Turing Tests available to tell the difference between a human and an AI.

The CVI is a world-class psychometric assessment with a 97.7% repeat reliability rate1. It's like a personality test with a 5th dan black belt and a Ph.D. all rolled into one — you can't beat it or outsmart it.

Although they are getting smarter every day, AIs still have a long way to go toward replicating individual human behavior. This is where their greatest weakness comes into play in the fight between human vs. machine.

AIs can only mimic human behavior. They don't have true individuality like you do.

What separates you from an AI — and separates you from every other person on the planet — isn't just your CVI psychometric profile. It's the combination of that plus your life experience.

The fact that your psychometric profile is a representation of your innate and unchanging nature — your personality's DNA — is the reason why it can be measured and assessed by the CVI.

Other than suffering the effects of significant trauma or mental illness, your personality is essentially locked in at birth and doesn't change in any substantive way as you get older. You can choose your behavior in any given moment, but it is your default personality and preferences that always remains under the surface.

An AI can absorb the observed range of human behavior and recall that for use based on the query or circumstance presented to it, but this is just selective mimicry. The level of perceived accuracy of this regurgitated amalgamation of behavior reflects the (often lack of) sophistication of the AI and how it was programmed.

But that's all an AI is — the rehashed and selectively reformatted behavior of others.

To paraphrase a famous quote, "Today's AI is like rock and roll — it's nothing but ripped-off blues chords."

Once you know the CVI profile of someone, you can make reasonably accurate predictions of their default responses and preferences in many common circumstances. Their profile would tell you a great deal about the lens through which they view the world.

A person's Core Values Index profile doesn't produce their behavior, it describes their default behavior and preferences.

For example, someone with a CVI profile of 27-Innovator, 17-Banker, 15-Builder and 13-Merchant could accurately be described by the following characteristics:

  • This person's primary core value energy of Innovator means they enjoy solving problems and have a hard time turning down the challenge of finding a better way to do something.
  • This individual has an altruistic motive behind everything they do, with a strong sense of compassion in their desire to help others.
  • The way this individual solves problems is through careful and thorough research. Their secondary core value energy of Banker motivates them to gather information and data to inform their problem-solving effort.
  • Being the center of attention is the least of their concerns (determined by their relatively low Merchant score).

All of these statements and descriptors are based on the fact that Innovator is their primary core value energy score (and a profound score at that, above 25); Banker is their secondary score — which influences how their primary core value energy manifests; and Merchant is their minor or lowest core value energy, and therefore has little or no common influence on their default behavior.

If a person had a CVI profile of 23-Innovator, 21-Banker, 19-Builder and 9-Merchant, their behavior would be measurably — but not significantly — different, even though the order of primary, secondary, tertiary and minor core value energies would be the same. (The scores matter because they show the relative impact each core value energy has on your personality.)

There are no known AIs that can accurately replicate someone's behavior for a given situation based on a selected Core Values Index profile, but the CVI can accurately predict that person's default behavior in that same situation.

Even though your default responses and preferences are measurable through the CVI, your overall personality — what makes you unique — is determined by the combination of your CVI profile and your life experiences.

There is little risk of an AI being able to accurately and realistically replicating you or your personality anytime soon. And even if it does, it will only be chords ripped off from the music that makes you truly unique.
