Do These Five Things After Taking The Core Values Index Psychometric Assessment

Find Your Perfect Career - Learn how to match your personality to the ideal job or career for you-risk free-$49.95

You've taken the Core Values Index, the world's most reliable psychometric assessment. Now what? Here are the five things you should do after taking the CVI (plus two bonus tips).

The Core Values Index takes about 8 minutes to complete, and is appropriate for anyone aged 13 and older.

The CVI describes your personality by measuring the particular ratio of four personality types that dwell within you. These personality types are called core value energies and go by some interesting labels:

  • Builder - power and faith
  • Merchant - love and intuition
  • Innovator - wisdom and compassion
  • Banker - knowledge and justice
It is the specific ratio of how much of each core value energy lies within your particular personality, coupled with your life experience, that makes you unique.

When you complete the CVI, you'll get a 17-page report that describes your particular Core Values Index profile. The tips we list below reference this report.

Note: Everyone that takes the CVI learns what their primary and secondary core value energies are, but only those who pay for the full results package get the full version of their report and can see their particular CVI scores. If you are one of the folks who only have the free version, don't worry. You can always upgrade your results to get the full version — you don't have to take the CVI assessment again.

Upgrade your CVI results

Here are the five things you should do as soon as you take the Core Values Index:

1. Get The Basic Facts

Read your report. Yes, we know that some of you don't like to read long things, so if that describes you, at least read the summary. It's worth it. Read the rest if you can. That's also worth it.

2. Get Your Scores

Identify your scores to see how each core value energy impacts your personality. Did you know that scores of 25 or higher are considered "profound"? (Max is 36.) Also, if you have a score 12 or less (0 is least), you rarely if ever access that part of your personality (or if you do, it feels uncomfortable, like you're wearing someone else's pants).

3. Learn How To Chill Out

Read the section of your report about Conflict Resolution Strategies. This information is profoundly useful when understanding your default reactions to stress and conflict. As a bonus, it can help you recognize when it's happening and then shift into the core value energy (behavior) type that will be more constructive in the moment. (You can also learn how to spot when someone else is in their conflict resolution mode and quickly diffuse the situation.)

4. Share The Love

Get your spouse, relationship partner, co-workers, and even your children (teenage or older) to take the CVI. Understanding where the people closest to you are coming from is powerful stuff.

5. Get The Full Scoop

Download The Core Values Handbook PDF. The Handbook is a 173-page guide to the Core Values Index, written by Lynn Ellsworth Taylor, the creator of the CVI, and is included with your full CVI (a $19.95 value).

The CVI is easy to understand but there's also a lot of depth to it. Having a resource like The Core Values Handbook is invaluable at getting the most out of the CVI in your personal and professional life.

How Happy Are You, Really?

Bonus tip:

6. Take the Happiness Index. It's free to everyone who's got the full CVI results. It uses standardized questions but the results are calibrated to your specific CVI scores. The answers will give you a baseline to understand which aspects of your life — especially your job — are fulfilling and if any area is lacking.

Again, it's calibrated to your CVI profile — no other happiness survey in the world does that — so the weight of your answers are tailored specifically to you.

Final Tip:

Along with your full CVI results, you also get a Personalized Career Guide. It provides personalized career guidance and ideal jobs for your personality type
