Are you happy?
This is a challenging question to answer. "It depends," is a common first response. Are we talking about work? Personal life? Marriage? All of the above? It's like asking about the weather — location matters.
Let's break it down into bits that are easier to process. Do you feel like your work is fulfilling and fully utilizes your strengths and talents? Do you feel like the challenges you face in your job are both worthy of your effort and within your wheelhouse to achieve?
Is your contribution appreciated by your peers and superiors? Are you fairly compensated?
Now we're getting somewhere.
"Am I happy?" is a difficult question to answer, but it may be the most crucial answer you can seek in your effort to achieve professional and personal success.
It would be really handy if someone came up with a way to determine and measure happiness in both a qualitative and quantitative way. Happiness surveys exist that attempt to achieve this. It would be even better if there was a happiness survey that used a universal scale yet embraced your individual psychometric profile.
This ideal survey exists and it is called Happiness Index. It is provided free of charge at eRep.com to anyone with a Core Values Index profile.
The Happiness Index assessment takes about 10 minutes to complete and results are presented on a scale from 0 to 100% in five main categories:
- Connectedness
- Processes
- Fairness
- Challenges
- Inspiration
Because the Happiness Index integrates with your personal Core Values Index (CVI) score, the results are insightful and particular to you. Your score is weighted based on what matters most to you.
With the tradition of New Year resolutions, perhaps one of the most important things you can do is reflect on your own happiness. Striving for goals that aren't aligned with your fundamental nature is an uphill battle. Why not discover the strengths that are unique to you and find the path that is the most natural for you to walk?
Take the Core Values Index profile and complete a free Happiness Index assessment. Find out where you're standing before you set the New Year goals of where you want to be.
