6 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Full CVI Report

Find Your Perfect Career - Learn how to match your personality to the ideal job or career for you-risk free-$49.95

Understand the significance of your primary and secondary core values.

Your CVI profile is a lot more than just four scores. Learn how impactful they are in defining who you are.

When you complete the Core Values Index psychometric assessment, you receive a 17-page report customized specifically for your CVI profile. On the first page of this report you will see two graphs.

The first is a quadrant graph showing your specific CVI scores and their proportional relationship to each other.

The second chart is a histogram giving you the energy preferences or weighted significance of your four core value scores as well as your six contribution types.

It is important to note that the actual scores and weighted significance are not linear. For example, I am a 27 Innovator and a 17 Banker. My Innovator score comprises 86% of my energy while my Banker score only comprises 7% of my energy.

This means I automatically prefer to spend 86% of my time using the Innovator aspect of my core values profile.

What are your scores and weighted energy preferences?

By seeing your report and viewing these values, you will understand the amount of time you spend within each of your four core values. You don't get that information with the free CVI report.

Strengths help you understand how you can best succeed in work and personal relationships.

We all have our own unique set of strengths and weaknesses.

Learning what your particular strengths are can give you a serious boost in shaping your work and personal relationships.

Your full CVI report will list the strengths that are associated with your profile. Read that section, then give thought to how you are aligning your work and personal relationships to those strengths.

If you are a predominantly cognitive or practical person, are you working in a field where those strengths are highly utilized? Do you gravitate toward relationships with others who share similar traits?

You don't always have a choice where you work or who you share relationships with, but by knowing the strengths that are specific to your CVI profile, you can better understand how you instinctively see and react to situations and people. Once you read that section, many aspects of your professional and personal life will make a lot more sense.

Recognize your particular challenges and learn how to adapt.

Along with your unique strengths, your core values index profile will also define and clarify areas where you may struggle or find to be especially challenging.

Those who take the CVI and read their full report often find the information it provides about their challenges to be the most helpful.

For example, Innovators like me are known to love solving problems. But we also have a tendency to seek perfection. We can continue trying to tweak a solution that has already been adequately solved. By knowing this, I can recognize when I'm spending too much time pursuing an ideal solution and act accordingly.

What is your primary core value? When reading your Core Values Index full report, you will not only learn the key challenges you face, but you will learn ways to identify when you are in that mode and how to constructively and positively overcome it.

Find where you will shine the most brightly.

As you read through your full CVI report, you will likely experience two things. The first is you will see things that confirm what you've already known about yourself. That is powerful by itself. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, you will learn new things about yourself that you never knew — yet they will intuitively ring true.

The combination of these two experiences will produce within you some insights that clarify key areas of opportunity in your life. These insights can often feel as if they were given by a wise guru on a mountain top because of their truth and practicality.

You will discover your true self and learn the activities and environments and relationships where you will truly shine.

Doing anything else will feel like you are perpetually trying to nail gravy to a tree.

Learn about your contribution types and how they impact your personality.

There are six contribution types that describe who you are: intuitive, creative, cognitive, practical, community, and independent. When you read your contribution type graph on page one, you will see your raw values and weighted energy preferences that are specific to you.

Are you a very intuitive person? Is your weighted energy preference for community especially high? These contribution types not only define and clarify who you are, they give you a lot of useful insight into the kinds of work or relationships that will be the most fulfilling.

If you have a high independent score, you probably wouldn't be very happy working frequently in a big team environment.

That is just one of many examples of how you can use your contribution type scores and weighted energy preferences to understand and positively shape your daily life.

Gain better understanding of others.

The Core Values Index gives you a great deal of information about yourself, but it also helps you understand others with surprising clarity. This includes people who are similar to you and those who have very different core values profiles.

For example, my two lowest scores are Builder and Merchant, respectively. By reading about the CVI, I have learned how those with high Builder or Merchant scores see the world. This information has improved my ability to work and communicate with those folks by leaps and bounds.

As you read your full CVI report, there are sections that describe all four core values.

You will learn how you tick, and by extension how other people function.

Understanding the motivations and perspectives of others is an extremely useful insight, and this knowledge is one of the most powerful aspects of the full CVI report.
