Description
Axiom Plumbing & Sewers is a Portland metro area construction company seeking an experienced diesel mechanic/technician to maintain a variety of light, medium, and heavy weight vehicles and machinery within our company's fleet. This position has a hub location in Troutdale and will frequent our excavation industrial yard in N Portland, as well as travel as needed to onsite locations throughout the Metro area. A service truck with service crane, onboard air compressor, generator and a welder will be provided for the position, however technician will need to provide the majority of their own tools. This is a great opportunity for someone who is self-motivated, task-oriented, and enjoys working on something different each day!
Responsibilities
Daily work tasks will include:
- Lubricate and perform preventative maintenance
- Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose problems
- Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure proper working order
- Perform repairs as required to achieve optimum performance
- Ensure all equipment repairs are performed accurately
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper operation
- Some welding and light fabrication as needed
- Perform other miscellaneous mechanical and maintenance duties as needed
- Maintain work area appearance and safety
Essential Experience and Skills:
- Proficiency in preventative maintenance of transmissions, rear ends, suspension, steering, brakes, 12v electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on various types of equipment
- Ability to create/maintain records for maintenance of each vehicle/trailer/machine
Requires lifting, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and working at elevated heights at times in tight and awkward positions.
Must have own tools
- Must be able to perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability and enjoyment in keeping oneself organized
Qualifications
- 5 years practical work experience as a Diesel Technician on medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certifications/skill/experiences.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational/Technical or certification preferred
- ASE Certification preferred
- Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required
- Basic proficiency with computer technology
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required
- Valid driver's license with safe driving record required.
