quality services in education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training
and placement.

Job Summary:
As the Youth Development Coach, you
will work collaboratively with Multnomah County Community Justice Juvenile
Services Division on building competencies and healthy outcomes for a caseload
of approximately 50 African-American youth and their families.
Responsibilities
- Assesses
and engages with youth using the Juvenile Crime Prevention Quick Screen and
implements strength-based individual success plans built on culturally specific
and evidenced-based practices to help participants develop and reach goals.
- Works collaboratively with other professionals in the field including
schools, community-based organizations, mental health, alcohol and drug
organizations, child welfare, Department of Community Justice, and Oregon Youth
Authority.
- Provides day-to-day activities including: social casework, intake,
assessment, assertive engagement, and skill development through engaging youth
and families in activities through: education, employment, home, family,
health, pro-social activities, spirituality, and community.
- Facilitates, participates, develops and coordinates pro-social activities for
youth and their families.
- Follows documentation requirements as indicated in Program policies,
including but not limited to accurate data entry into CHI Data base, case
files, service plans, weekly/monthly reports, and case notes
Qualifications
Personal Requirements:
- Ability to assess risk factors, protective
factors, personal and evaluation needs to develop appropriate individual
interventions or case plans
- Ability to
build effective, trusting relationships with young people and parents
- Ability to
identify and appropriately engage adolescents with mental health, drug and
alcohol issues
- Knowledge of
community resources and referral/follow-up processes
- Strong writing
skills
- Strong cultural competency
- Must have a valid driver-s license, access to a personal vehicle and the ability to meet our insurability requirements
Experience/Education
Requirements:
- Bachelor-s
degree in Counseling or related field
- Four years- of
experience working with vulnerable youth
- One year of
gang-related work
- Case management experience a plus
