Milestone Property Management proudly manages over 1,400 multi-family and single-family units spanning Southwest Washington to Salem, Oregon. We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented Lead Property Accountant for our property management accounting operations. This role ensures our organization's financial accounts meet the highest standards while supporting our mission of delivering excellence in property management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage QuickBooks to ensure accurate tracking of corporate expenses and payments, and produce monthly corporate financial statements.
  • Generate property-level reports, including Monthly/Quarterly/T12 Rent Rolls, Profit & Loss, and Balance Sheets.
  • Oversee Tax, Insurance, and CAPEX reserve accounts, ensuring compliance with monthly transfer and utilization requirements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, property management reports, and financial statements monthly.
  • Supervise accounts payable processes, including vendor billing and payments, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and process payroll while ensuring accurate cost allocations.
  • Ensure timely submission of annual reports and government/state filings.
  • Process property tax and mortgage payments for clients.
  • Prepare and distribute 1099 forms.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and apply strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in property management or real estate accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Financial/ERP software and QuickBooks; experience with property management CRM software (AppFolio preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, TEAMS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • The position is based in our corporate office.
