Description
Responsible for managing customer relations, program execution from product / process development through transition to production, P&L performance and cross-functional team alignment with customer objectives. The Director Program Management is the primary interface between MTI and its customers. This position is responsible from bid/proposal through product/process development through transition to production. The Director Program Management will work with functional leadership on strategic decisions related to manufacturing plans including make buy/where decisions and technical/producibility trades and cost reduction initiatives. It is imperative the Director Program Management has a comprehensive understanding of operational capabilities and quality and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Business development / Customer Interface:
- Cultivates customer relationships to develop potential for future opportunities. Grows business with current customers over time.
- Oversees contract negotiations, contract changes, specification updates, and key terms and conditions
- Understands requirements and specifications of customers and translates them into internal processes.
- Develops new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans.
New Product Development / Program Execution:
- Develops and maintains integrated master schedules
- Leads and advises cross-functional teams to meet program cost, schedule, technical and quality requirements and objectives
- Works with functional leadership to ensure adequate resource planning, including workforce planning, capacity and facility needs to meet program objectives.
- Leads project / program status meetings
- Oversees program performance, leading and advising corrective action needs where performance is not meeting program objectives. Identifies, distributes, tracks, and comples program requirements.
- Conducts risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization
Qualifications
Must have:
- Bachelors degree in related technical field
- A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience
- Monitor and control budget
- Support bid and proposal activities and risk and opportunity ownership
- Effective communicator, able to strengthen relationships and work with personnel at all organizational levels, functional stakeholders, and internal and external customers
- Facilitates production planning, problem resolution, and process improvement, including cost reduction initiatives
- Demonstrated initiative, perseverance, and creativity
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use data and information to convey a concise message to team members and stakeholders
- A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Ability to manipulate and process reports and work artifacts with large amount of data
Desired Skills:
- Self-starter with proven leadership ability, as well as demonstrated success working with limited supervision while coordinating activities with engineering, operations, supply chain, finance, quality, contracts and other program execution functions.
- A team player who can lead diverse disciplines in multi-functional teams at all levels of the organization
- Familiarity with scheduling and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems (GlobalShop)
- Familiarity with Supply Chain Management
