Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center + Rosemary Anderson High School (POIC + RAHS) is a minority-led nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing the highest quality services in education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training and placement.

Established in 1968, POIC + RAHS has been a beacon for communities of color for over 50 years. Today, POIC + RAHS provides education and direct services to over 700 students and work trainees annually, 80% of whom are Black or Latinx.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for supporting underserved youth on a path to self-sufficiency by providing outreach to local businesses and industry partners to develop and create supported work-based learning opportunities and coordinate work experiences.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

1. Increases the range of employment opportunities available to our participants using participant interests, experiences, and most importantly, their ambitions, as the foundation for the identification and cultivation of potential employers.

2. Develop and implement a strategic plan for job placement services with a strong focus on young adults ages 18-25 that ensures POIC meets its participant placement metrics.

3. Evaluate labor market data to determine employer demand and usage of POIC services and determine improvements and ways to leverage relationships with employers to meet POIC-s placement metrics.

Job Duties:

- Researches and conducts outreach to, and builds relationships with prospective employers willing to hire POIC program participants, particularly young adults.

- Achieves weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual job placement goals in accordance with POIC-s contractual obligations.

- Serves as the face of POIC to prospective employers.

- Maintains relationships with existing employer partners.

- Schedules and conducts daily prospecting, cold calls, and face-to-face meetings.

- Serves as the liaison among employers, participants, and our criminal justice partners.

- Matches program participants with employment opportunities, taking into consideration each participant-s skills, work experience, interests, goals, and aspirations.

- Customizes participants- resumes to fit identified opportunities.

- Documents all participant and employer contact, activities, and outcomes in the case management system (Salesforce).

- Demonstrates capacity to handle multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

- Demonstrates ability to inspire community participation and build coalitions.

- Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

- Respectfully takes direction from manager.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Social Work (BSW), Psychology, Counseling, Criminology or a related social/behavioral science field with two years- experience in workforce development, recruitment, or sales/account management in which quotas are met on a regular basis. Passionate about making an impact in the lives of young adults and guiding them to achieving their career goals through a balance of accountability with empathy. Knowledge of criminal justice system and/or experience with ex-offenders is preferred. Deep dedication to social justice.
