Internship Coach (Summer) Share:

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

1.        Conducts outreach, recruits, enrolls, and maintains caseload of up to 40 young adult clients with a focus on low income people of color for access to internship opportunities.

2.       Coordinates outreach and develops relationships with local employers and creates mechanisms for clients to access opportunities.

        3.        Plans and facilitates lessons on job readiness, employment skills, and financial literacy

Job Duties:

-       Conducting youth orientations and collecting/managing essential forms and paperwork 

-       Building relationships with assigned youth and potentially the partner agencies affiliated with the youth assigned

-       Collaborates with Work Opportunities Training (WOT) team and other POIC departments to deliver services across program sites.

-       Collaborates with employer partners to develop opportunities for clients of diverse skill levels to obtain work experience.

-       Offering support services including clothing and transportation necessary for position requirements and to support successful job completions

-       Teaching work readiness workshops following the New World of Work (NWOW) curriculum and financial literacy to help youth with the -soft skills- necessary to succeed in their work experience

-       Documents all client interaction, progress, participation, and data in workforce development-specific database system on a daily basis.

-       Maintains detailed, organized, and updated files, in compliance with local and federal government contractors.

-       Researches promising practices of serving low income clients and approaches to alleviating poverty to ensure program model is dynamic and responsive to client needs.

-       Works in partnership with POIC-s community-based programs to address barriers to sustainable employment.

-       Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

-       Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

-       Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.

-       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma and one to two years- related experience and/or training working with youth, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in workforce development and placing clients with multiple barriers in employment. Familiarity with trauma-informed practice and strength-based approaches to working with clients preferred. Experience working with non-profits and within government funded systems is preferred.
