Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center + Rosemary Anderson High School (POIC + RAHS) is a minority-led nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing the highest quality services in education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training and placement.

Established in 1968, POIC + RAHS has been a beacon for communities of color for over 50 years. Today, POIC + RAHS provides education and direct services to over 700 students and work trainees annually, 80% of whom are Black or Latinx.

Job Summary:
This position is temporary through September 2024, but there may be more opportunities for this role. The Student Activities Coordinator must be energetic, youth-focused, and passionate about providing high-quality programming to youth at POIC + RAHS. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. The Student Activities Coordinator will design, organize, and manage extracurricular activities and programs for students in school, ranging from club meetings, sports, and community service events.

This position requires a combination of direct service to students and families and administrative responsibilities. The Student Activities Coordinator will manage activities and staff to ensure each of our 5 campuses, serving middle and high school youth, are providing a robust program to help address unfinished learning as part of a responsive system, grounded in equity that accelerates learning by building on strengths and addressing needs of our students and community.

The Student Activities Coordinator manages and plans events and activities for students in an educational environment. The coordinator is responsible for organizing and promoting programs such as student clubs, athletic events, and social activities. They work with students, staff, and community members to create a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

1. Plans and coordinates student activities, such as morning and afternoon gym times, field trips, and clubs.

2. Communicates with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student involvement in activities.

3. Collaborates with community organizations to provide opportunities for students.

.Job Duties:

- Research and align effective program partnerships and collaborations to enhance the afterschool program.

- Develops and enforces policies for student conduct during activities.

- Collaborates with community organizations to provide opportunities for students.

- Offers support and guidance to student leaders in organizing and running events.

- Evaluates the success of student activities and makes recommendations for improvement.

- Maintains accurate records and reports on student participation and activity expenses.

- Upholds school policies and regulations throughout all student activities.

- Able to drive a 14-passenger school bus.

- Monitor daily activities and maintain an inviting, safe, and orderly after school learning environment.

- Purchasing all necessary supplies adhering to a budget and following expense reporting procedures

- Have strong communication and collaboration skills, and can foster healthy relationships with students, parents, community partners, and POIC + RAHS staff,

- Coordinate all logistical planning for site events and trips.

- In consultation with administration, program staff, and students, provide day-to-day oversight of programs and after-school staff.

- Acquire and coordinate program equipment, materials, facilities, nutrition, and transportation need on site.

Qualifications

Experience/Education Requirements:

- An associate degree from a college or technical school or a bachelor-s degree from a four-year college or university is required.

- A minimum of four years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth and families, building collaborative partnerships, tracking data, record keeping, drafting reports, and maintaining student and staff records.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations:

A valid driver-s license, acceptable driving record, and automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehicle. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that meets the organization-s underwriting criteria.
