Salary:  $48,294 - $73,450

POIC + RAHS is a multi-faceted agency that provides wide-ranging services meant to promote stronger attachments between disenfranchised youth, their families, and the wider community. POIC + RAHS supports several school-based programs for students in grades 6-12 located throughout the Portland Metro area. All are accredited schools serving more than 350 youth from Portland Public Schools and East County. All programs include paths to earning a high school diploma and/or a GED. We continue to mentor and support our graduates until they reach the age of stable maturity at age 25.

Summary

This position is responsible for classroom instruction, curriculum development and engagement activities by performing the following duties during summer enrichment programing.

Essential Duties

1.     Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

2.     Establishes shared expectations with students regarding behaviors, norms and habits in the classroom.

3.     Plans and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning and engagement experiences.

4.     Foster a classroom environment conducive to learning.

Job Duties

-         Evaluates student academic and social progress.

-         Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law.

-         Monitors the progress of individual students using school database system.

-         Develops a unique, engaging, and rigorous curriculum in a condensed time period.

-         Designs and adapts curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our student population.

-         Prepares materials and classrooms for class activities.

-         Confers with parents, guardians, caring adults as well as school community stakeholders regarding student progress.

-         Performs the role of an advisor to a group of 15 students and helps to support individual student social and emotional growth and organizational skills.

-         Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

-         Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

-         Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience

Bachelor-s degree in Education or related subject. Master-s degree, preferred. Experience working with high school youth in a school or community-based organization setting.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations

Oregon Teacher License strongly preferred. Non-certified teachers may be considered with relevant and/or exceptional experience.
