Gerding Builders is a General Contractor/Construction Management company located in beautiful Corvallis, Oregon. The firm is comprised of knowledgeable Project Managers and Project Engineers with expertise in a large variety of markets and a wide range of projects. Projects include Commercial, Medical, Institutional, Non-Profits, K-12, Higher Education and Multi-Family projects spanning the Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast. We take ownership for delivering each project on schedule, under budget, without safety incidents, with a high-degree of quality and with a professionalism and level of service that exceeds the expectations of our customers.Position Description
The Field Operations Manager's job is to provide leadership and overall support for Gerding Builders' project teams. In this role, the Field Ops Manager will oversee the Project Superintendents' performance on all Gerding Builders (GB) projects in conjunction with continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this position will provide senior review and contribution to estimating and pre-construction activities for best company results. This is a performance-based job, being measured on whether our teams achieve the company's targets and goals.
Duties include: short and mid-term planning, project organization, crew assignments and leadership as well as conducting site inspections to confirm compliance with regulatory practices. This position will work with the Gerding Builders Executive Team (President, Project Executive and Program Manager) along with the Tom Gerding Construction Superintendent, Project Managers, and Field/Project Engineers.
Responsibilities

- Responsible for identifying and recruiting top talent and development field operations growth
- Coordinate and collaborate with President and Operations Manger for staffing assignments
- Contribute to and manage strategic goals as directed by GB Management
- Coordinate with GB Schedule Consultant for job schedule reviews
- Verify and ensure all RFIs and Submittals are being logged in, routed and responded to promptly
- Develop a communication plan among the field teams and promote teamwork and positive coordination throughout the Companies
- Attend weekly GB Operations Meeting
- Support project planning, estimating and pre-construction as requested by GB Management
- Provide direction on general conditions, scheduling and constructability
- Oversee Superintendent performance on all GB projects through planning, site visits, meetings, training, company procedures, best practices, regular coordination and mentoring
- Oversee project safety and quality control on all GB projects in coordination with safety consultant and direct oversight of QC Manager
- Coordinate with and oversee QAQC Manager to verify all building is done to specifications
- Ensures quality compliance through use of specifications, setting quality standards, in-house QA/QC and outside resources
- Visit each GB project twice per month to observe construction methods, attend key meetings, provide support and help resolve issues
- Be available to Superintendents working on GB projects as a resource for construction and project leadership knowledge
- Hold regular coordination meetings with Superintendents working on GB projects to promote teamwork, communication and best practices
- Assist Project Team members with conflict resolution or with any major issues dealing with Subcontractors and Owners
- Develop and implement Superintendent Annual Training Program
- Assist with the enforcement of safety and quality-control policies
- Enhance the ability to work in a team environment with other Project Managers, Project Engineers and Superintendents
