Position Summary: The
Young Parent Educator will ensure objectives and deliverables are met according
to contract and grant agreements, including but not limited to providing home visits, family support
services, parenting skills and child development education to young parents (18
to 25) living in or near the
poverty threshold in Portland, Oregon.
Core responsibilities include; youth and young adult parenting and child
abuse prevention curriculum, increasing parent/family involvement in
activities, community outreach, and participant recruitment. You will work
closely with Youth Services Department staff to maintain open and clear
communications, to implement and track data collection, and to ensure grant
reports and proposals are prepared on time and on budget.
This position will be responsible for supporting a caseload
of 33 young parents and their families (16 receiving home based parenting
support and 17 receiving class based parenting support). The Young Parent Coordinator will work closely with staff across all four Rosemary Anderson
High School (RAHS) school sites, the Work Opportunities Training (WOT) office, The
Youth Services Department and with other POIC+RAHS staff to maintain open and
clear communications, to implement and track data collection, and to ensure
grant reports and proposals are prepared on time and on budget.

Conduct weekly Home Visits for Program
Participants

Conduct two 16 week Community Parenting
Sessions for Young Parents

Recruit Young Parent participants
-
Collect, analyze, and report on data
including but not limited to event attendance, and resources services needed,
program participation, demographics.

Monitor grant requirements to make sure
all contracted goals are met
-
Adhere to organization-s equity
position

Track and report data and statistics to
funders as outlined in program grants
-
Complete agency weekly, monthly,
quarterly, and/or annual reports
-
Weigh in on strategic plans for the
department that relates to the future of young parent/family involvement programming
and community engagement

Assist Director by ensuring budgetary
compliance and by submitting any required documents or reports on time and in
completion
-
Collaborate on execution of programs
for department

Other duties as assigned

Work with Program team to ensure duties
collaborative work to move mission and service delivery forward

Experience & Education
Requirements:

Minimum 3+ years program and case management
experience

Minimum 3+ years managing programs

Prior grant reporting experience
required

Experience working with young adults
and families
-
Experience recruiting and maintaining
program participants

Experience working with communities of
color, in particular African American women
-
Bachelor-s degree required or
equivalent plus 5 years demonstrated experience
Additional
Requirements

Successful
completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not
limited to criminal background, sex offender, drug,
abuse and neglect and vehicle record as required

Valid
driver's license, reliable transportation and automobile insurance meeting
minimum requirements as defined by the organization

Established in
1968 as a community-based organization, Portland Opportunities Industrialization
Center, Inc. (POIC) has been providing culturally relevant adult workforce
training and placement to adults, with an emphasis on people of color. In 1983,
Rosemary Anderson High School (RAHS) was founded. Today, POIC+RAHS partners
