Estimator position
We are currently looking for an organized, practical, and dedicated Estimator to help grow our Commercial Construction business and assist with our Custom Home estimates. This is a critical position to the company and will be working directly with and being trained by the President to help increase Baxter Builders- capacity. Baxter Builders has a tremendous reputation built upon accuracy, organization and urgency to complete projects with attention to detail and precision. It is important that this Estimator share those same qualities in order to continue to exceed our customer-s expectations and expand Baxter Builders- business. This role is typically in the office and is responsible for following up with all potential customers and estimates for the entire company. For this position, we are open to recent graduates who may not have much professional experience but have degrees such as: Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating or Project Management.
Responsibilities
- Estimate all jobs in the proper time-frame (by bid date communicated to client)
- Track and manage Estimate pipeline - ensure everyone is followed up with
- Provide contract documents and get them signed by client
- Urgent and effective communication with all potential clients
- Phone and email communication with owners, sub-contractors, and vendors
- Must have a professional presence at all times
- Review and evaluate sub-contractor bids
- Communicate and update with trade partners and team members regarding project status and schedule
- Prepare purchase orders and estimates in detail
- Manage bid and materials pricing from sub-contractors and vendors, understand sq. ft. costs and typical pricing
- Read and understand full set of plans and documents to know exactly what the scope of work is
- Establish and maintain working relationships with sub-contractors, vendors and owners
- Walk job sites and know project layout
- Create and/or review specs or spec lists for each project
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Construction and/or Management experience preferred
- 3+ years of Construction Estimator experience preferred
- Must be organized, with an attention to the details and information
- Estimate bidding software experience preferred (Procore, Sage, Planswift, etc.)
- Framing or Carpentry experience is a plus
