Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of heavy machinery and equipment used in construction, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, crushing equipment, loaders, and on-road trucks. The mechanic will work both in the field and in the shop to ensure that all equipment remains in optimal working condition to support ongoing construction projects..

Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Repairs & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and perform necessary repairs to equipment.
  • Equipment Overhaul: Disassemble and reassemble heavy machinery, replacing parts as needed and conducting major repairs or rebuilds.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Complete necessary safety checks and maintain clean, organized workspaces.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, parts used, and hours worked.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including operators, supervisors, and project managers, to identify equipment issues and provide timely solutions.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field or on job sites, providing immediate repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Testing: Test repaired equipment to ensure all systems are functioning properly before returning it to service.
  • Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, graders, and crushing equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Valid driver-s license (CDL preferred).
  • Certification in heavy equipment repair or related field (e.g., ASE, or manufacturer-specific certifications) is a plus.
