We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of heavy machinery and equipment used in construction, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, crushing equipment, loaders, and on-road trucks. The mechanic will work both in the field and in the shop to ensure that all equipment remains in optimal working condition to support ongoing construction projects..
Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.Repairs & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, and perform necessary repairs to equipment.Equipment Overhaul: Disassemble and reassemble heavy machinery, replacing parts as needed and conducting major repairs or rebuilds.Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Complete necessary safety checks and maintain clean, organized workspaces.Documentation: Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, parts used, and hours worked.Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including operators, supervisors, and project managers, to identify equipment issues and provide timely solutions.Emergency Response: Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field or on job sites, providing immediate repairs to minimize downtime.Equipment Testing: Test repaired equipment to ensure all systems are functioning properly before returning it to service.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.In-depth knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, graders, and crushing equipment.Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair manuals.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.Physical stamina to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions and environments.Valid driver-s license (CDL preferred).Certification in heavy equipment repair or related field (e.g., ASE, or manufacturer-specific certifications) is a plus.
