Description

Madrona Pacific Properties is a fast-growing commercial real estate investment and property management company with multiple offices located across the mountain west. The company is actively looking for qualified professionals who will help execute the company's future growth strategy and is on the search for a knowledgeable and capable staff accountant. This individual must thrive in all things accounting.


Our Staff Accountant will be a remote position until an office space is secured at a later date. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and direction to 3rd party property accounting teams. Review/Analyze 3rd party provided monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Complete the monthly close process including preparation of journal entries, coding corrections, and reclassifications.
  • Prepare in-house corporate financial statements and supporting schedules. Compile and analyze financial information and accounting reports, and make appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking and reviewing calculations, and balancing and reconciling figures.
  • Review/prepare/analyze the annual budgeting efforts of the assigned portfolio. Reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
  • Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit, makes mortgage payments and distributions, and ensures accuracy. Monitor cash balances timely.
  • Perform complex accounting tasks such as 1031 Exchanges, capitalization policies, and acquisition/disposition entries
  • Maintains and coordinates accounting control procedures by analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and recommending appropriate budget levels to ensure expenditure control.
  • Communicates with on-site and other property managers to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time client and Company reporting.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor-s degree in Accounting preferred, or comparable work experience
    • Minimum 2 years of solid accounting experience
    • Multifamily experience preferred, but commercial experience will be considered.
    • GAAP experience necessary.
    • Experience with Realpage online system preferred.
    • Detail oriented with ability to work in a high-volume setting
    • Solid understanding of MS Excel and Office365 functions
    • Strong organizational and planning skills
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Additional projects and duties as assigned by Management/Principals
