Description

The responsibility of a Student Ministries Pastor is to lead the Middle School and High School ministry of newhope. newhope is seeking a passionate Jesus-follower who will have a passion for the  community and campus attenders, build the team that makes the ministry happen, and join what God is doing in and through this growing church. The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for recruiting, developing, training, encouraging and motivating both volunteer and lay leaders for the student ministry. The right leader is a multi-tasking team player with high energy, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a positive attitude.

The Student Ministries Pastor will first and foremost be a spiritual leader above reproach (1 Timothy 3) and embody godliness, humility, and integrity. Nothing gets in the way of spiritual leadership more than a leader compromising any of these responsibilities. As a result, a major part of the expectation is to model the highest level of godliness through spiritual disciples of prayer, Scripture reading, devotional reading, journaling, and/or fasting.

Responsibilities

DIVERSITY

Pastor Benji has a unique voice when it comes to racial unity and diversity in the church. The attendance at the church accurately reflects the community in which it exists! He approaches the topic of race with grace, boldness and candor. NewHope is a bridge between those who don't know Christ and those who do. It is a connecting point for differences in socio-economics, culture and beliefs. The new leader must be familiar with and very comfortable in this leadership style.

EFFECTIVE TEACHING

Messages are clear, biblical and relevant, reaching a wide audience including those who have been in church their whole lives and those who are just exploring the whole idea of faith and Jesus.

HOSPITALITY

Anyone can come in these doors and know that they are welcome and wanted. Greeters in the parking lot, people at the door, excellent kids- environments, hot coffee, clean lobbies and just an over-all sense that they were expecting you to come.

CONFIDENT LEARNER

It is imperative that the new leader come in with a -relationship first- mindset. It isn-t that this church is steeped in tradition, however, they have experienced previous leaders who haven-t necessarily honored the past or built the ministry around the existing DNA. Though the new leader will have freedom to form, shape and change the ministry to meet the needs of the students, it would be wise for this person to come in and understand the vision of the overall church and take the time to build relation equity with the leaders, the families and especially the students before changing anything about the program.

SOLID FOUNDATION

The new Student Pastor will have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation and a group of students looking to deepen community while also reaching out to people who don't yet know Jesus. The student ministries at newhope has been reestablished after COVID and now has a solid foundation, but they are ready to move forward, grow, and reach more students.

LEADER OF LEADERS

It is imperative that the new Student Ministries Pastor designs a ministry structure that is scalable to grow with the church. Currently, there is a gap of middle-level volunteer leadership empowered to lead teams of people. The Student Ministries and the Bridge is staff-run and is maxed in its capacity to grow without the implementation of a volunteer leadership structure. The Student Ministries Pastor will need to create a system of development that equips and releases volunteers into leadership.

RELATIONAL

The student ministries has seen its best seasons of health and growth when there is a strong relational culture. A successful candidate will be able to convey warmth and sincerity as they cultivate relationships with students, families, and volunteers.
